The Big Three 5-11-22
1 Another Grand Rapids City Commission meeting was cut short last night because of protestors.
During the public comment portion, the small crowd became unruly and Mayor Rosalynn Bliss called a recess. She later returned to say the meeting had been adjourned for the night.
One arrest was made outside of City Hall after the meeting when two of the attendees got into a physical altercation, but police say the arrest was unrelated to the disruption during the meeting.
This is the second time a City Commission meeting has been cut short by demonstrations.
2 The House passed a roughly $40 billion bill to deliver aid to Ukraine.
Billions of dollars will be used to send military equipment and weapons from US stocks to Ukraine and to purchase weapons from contractors
It still has to pass the Senate before Biden signs it.
Rep. Thomas Massie tweeting “Counting last night’s rushed vote, Congress has now spent more money on Ukraine in six months than we spend on all US roads and bridges in a year.
… something to think about the next time you are stuck in traffic or replacing a bent rim.”
3 The White House says FDA is working with manufacturers to keep shelves stocked. Meanwhile, West MI parents wonder what they will feed their babies.
Parents are having trouble finding baby formula in stores because of shortages.
