No Contest Plea for Man in Crash That Killed Teen Last Year

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Ryan Carter pleaded no contest to operating while intoxicated causing seriously injury, operating while intoxicated, failing to stop at the scene of a crash when at fault causing death and failing to stop at the scene of a crash causing serious injury or death.

The charges stem from a crash that happened on July 6 of last year on at the US-131 and I-196 interchange, when a 15-year-old boy was killed in the wreck, while a 15-year-old girl was thrown from the truck, and was seriously injured.

Prosecutors say Carter and the teens went to a party before the crash, where Carter drank and used inhalants.

There were also two other teens in the truck. They were not hurt, nor was Carter.
