Ambassador Bridge closure could have local impact

The Ambassador Bridge was brought to a standstill on Monday by protestors against vaccine mandates for truck drivers.

The bridge has reopened traffic from Canada into the U.S. but remains closed for travelers leaving the U.S. and entering Canada.

Thousands of trucks have been left stranded and a ripple effect is expected.

Grand Rapids Chamber vice president of government affairs Josh Lunger says a significant amount of West Michigan jobs depend on a well-functioning border.

The shutdown could complicate ongoing supply chain issues further.
