1 The leader of ISIS was killed yesterday during a US counterterrorism raid in northwest Syria. Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurayshi killed himself and his family after detonating a bomb as US forces approached his compound, Biden administration officials said. The explosion resulted in multiple civilian casualties
2 The Michigan Supreme Court has denied a challenge by Black lawmakers to new congressional and legislative maps, saying they showed no grounds to question the state redistricting commission’s decision to slash the number of majority-African American seats.
3 Whitmer was holding high end fundraisers in California while Michigan led the nation in COVID cases.
Whitmer is underwater, as over half of Wolverine State voters disapprove of her job performance, according to a recent poll.
Independent pollster EPIC MRA found last month that 52% of Michiganders who are likely to vote in the 2022 midterms do not approve of Whitmer’s job as governor, with only 45% saying she’s doing a good job.
