GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - On Tuesday, Grand Rapids Police Department Chief Eric Payne said a criminal and internal investigation is underway after an officer accidentally fired his gun when approaching a potential suspect.
The officer who fired the shot's name has not been released, but sources say he has been with the department for over 20 years. He is on leave while the case remains under investigation.
