Input wanted on removing small Grand River dams

The United States Department of Agriculture's Natural Resource Conservation Service is asking for input on restoring the rapids.

The USDA is looking for public input on a plan to remove smaller dams from the river.

Matt Chapman, project manager for Grand Rapids WhiteWater sys the dams create a safety hazard during river rescues and also prevent natural fish passage.

The USDA is paying $4.1 million of the $50 million estimated cost and is requiring public comment on the plan.
