SARANAC, Mich. - This week, the school board at Saranac Community Schools voted to change the schools "Redskins" name.

The new mascot will be selected by committee, with the superintendent in charge.

Saranac was the last school in West Michigan to use the nickname. Only two other schools in Michigan continue use the Redskins mascot, as Camden-Frontier near the Ohio line and Sandusky in the Thumb, and Clinton in southeastern Michigan changed its mascot last year.
