Bill eliminating tampon tax passes Senate

The Michigan State Senate is passing a bill that would eliminate taxes on feminine hygiene products.

The six percent sales tax has been a target for a long time as many say it is unfair to tax the items that are necessities.

The bill was sponsored by Sen. Winnie Brinks of Grand Rapids and passed 32-2 with bipartisan support.

Brinks says the passage will lead to a fairer tax structure for Michiganders.
