Grand Rapids city commissioners voted unanimously to officially change the names of two streets to honor civil rights icons.
Grandville Avenue will become Cesar E. Chavez Avenue.
While Franklin Street SE will be renamed Martin Luther King Jr. Street.
The former names of the roads will remain as designations.
The changes will go into effect in February 2022.
