11 counties drop mask mandates for kids in schools after Governor signs bill into law, but why not Kent and Ottawa Counties? We discuss.

The Big Three 10-01-21

1 A total of 11 counties have rescinded their health Dept orders as the new budget signed by the Giver or goes into effect today.

The bill stipulates that in order to be funded health dept’s must not mandate masks for kids 18 and under in schools.

Both Ottawa and Kent Counties have come out with statements against rescinding the orders.

Berrien, Ionia, Dickinson, Irons, Allegan, St. Clair Shores, Barry-Eaton, & Branch-Hillsdale, & St. Joseph.

2 The looming government shutdown has been averted. Both the House and the Senatevoted yesterday in favor of a continuing resolution, which will keep the government funded through December 3. President Biden signed it into law.

No deal last night. Vote on Biden infrastructure bill delayed in House.

3 Merck says that its experimental COVID-19 pill reduced hospitalizations and deaths by half in people recently infected with the virus and that it would soon ask health officials in the U.S. and around the world to authorize its use.

It would be the first pill cleared for treatment.
