GRAND RAPIDS (WOOD-AM) - The Grand Rapids Police Department says a man who was wanted in connection to five attempted child abductions near Alpine Avenue and Richmond Street is now in custody.

Larry Allred tells WOOD-TV that he tipped off police about the suspect's location.

"I saw the news coverage that he was wanted and I quickly took pictures of where he was at and sent them and called the police,” Allred said.

The suspect is said to be a 39-year-old homeless sex offender who was in prison until May 2020 after sexually assaulting a boy who was 13.
