1 President Biden is defending his decision to end the war in Afghanistan and the chaotic way that the withdrawal of US troops was disastrously executed.
13 American service men and women dead and many other injured including one Marine from West Michigan.
In a speech Tuesday, Biden argued that the US faced a choice "between leaving and escalating" and said that the era of US nation-building was over.
The Taliban, meanwhile, declared victory over the US from the tarmac of Kabul's airport while videos showed them inspecting US military equipment left behind.
2 A federal judge has said Western Michigan University may not remove four players from the women’s soccer team for refusing to get vaccinated against COVID-19 until a full hearing can be held.
The temporary restraining order issued Tuesday by U.S. District Court Judge Paul Maloney in favor of the players is effective for 14 days.
3 Grand Rapids police say that within hours of putting out a call for help from the public, tips led them to a suspect wanted for five child abduction attempts between Thursday and Monday in the area of Alpine Avenue and Richmond Street on the city’s northwest side.
Two of them happened in Richmond Park and near Harrison Elementary School.
The GRPD say the suspect was arrested just before 8 yesterday. Sgt. John Wittkowski said the arrest was “uneventful” and that the man was unarmed and cooperative.
He has a record, a registered sec offender, and was homeless living in a tent.
