Wayland HS Football Player in Hospital After Severe Concussion

GRAND RAPIDS (WOOD-AM) - A Wayland Union football player is recovering at Helen DeVos Children's Hospital after suffering a severe concussion during the team's first junior varsity game of the season.

Kaharri Pureifoy, 15, suffered the injury in a helmet-to-helmet hit.

His parents tell WOOD-TV that he has regained his ability to speak, but he's still dealing with with memory and dizziness issues.

He'll be transferred to Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital today.
