Brewery raising wages to boost recovery

A brewery in Grand Rapids is raising their wages in hopes it will help them recover after the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Mitten Brewing Company announced on June 30 they would be raising their minimum wage from $12 to $15 an hour.

The new system guarantees that servers, who rely on tips, will make at least $15 an hour, even if their tips fall short.

Co-owner Chris Andrus says it would be further damaging to the industry if they can't get workers.
