DNR suggests fines for swimming while under a red flag warning

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources is proposing fining individuals who swim during red warning flags.

The DNR says it has become a problem and the fines may deter people from having to be rescued or worse, losing their lives.

A dollar amount has not yet been decided.

The proposal will be discussed on Wednesday and could be approved as early as August.
