Police investigating string of pop-up parties and gunfire

Police in Grand Rapids are investigating several parties that have ended with gunfire over the past month.

Officials are unsure if the parties are organized by the same people but they hope the trend doesn't continue.

Some say they aren't sure if police are doing everything they can to break up the parties.

However GRPD Sgt. Dan Adams says parties and large gathering require assessment before they go into a situation and sometimes those assessments take time.

Adams says the gathering on its own its illegal.
