Planned Outage Near Walker to Leave 2,000+ Powerless

WALKER, Mich. - On Saturday, over 2,300 homes and businesses in Kent County will experience a planned power outage by Consumers Energy.

It is expected to start at 9 a.m. Saturday, and is expected to go until 2 a.m. Sunday.

Customers in Walker and Alpine Townships will be affected, along with people on 7 Mile to the north, Walker Avenue to the east, 8th Avenue to the west and 3 Mile to the south.

Consumers said ITC, an electric transmission company, requested the outage to upgrade equipment inside an electric substation.
