1 Grand Rapids police are investigating a suspected break-inat the Boost Mobile on Plainfield. Police said they got a call from someone saying they could hear glass breaking and loud noises.
They believe a stolen vehicle was involved.
In another cell phone store Wednesday the manager helped catch the crook!
RonjivRoy says right away when the man came through this door, he felt something was off.
After realizing a display phone was missing from his desk, he discretely called police. An officer with the Grand Rapids Police Department showed up shortly to make the arrest.
GRPD says the man grabbed the officer's baton and struck him with it, and also attempted to grab the officer's gun. In the scuffle, a water fountain was knocked off a wall.
When Roy saw this, he decided to intervene.
He credits his high school wrestling days for successfully assisting the officer.
2 Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s reelection campaign — not a nonprofit fund — will pay for her flights to and from Florida, where she visited her elderly, ailing father in March.
The disclosure Thursday came in a letter to a Republican lawmaker who had asked questions about the trip, which has been scrutinized by the GOP.
A lawyer for the governor’s campaign and the fund said he learned from PVS Chemicals, which supplied the private jet, that it could not accept the $27,000 payment except from a candidate committee because it is not authorized to operate charter flights.
3 If you’re traveling this weekend get ready for some pain at the pump. Gas prices around West Michigan jumped this week to over $3/ gal.
