Church treasurer embezzled $819,000, headed to prison

Christian Bileth of Grand Rapids was sentenced to five to 15 years in prison for embezzling $819,000 from St. John's United Church of Christ.

He spent five years as the owner of a financial auditing company that used the slogan: "stop losing money between the cracks."

He served as president of the church's board as well as the treasurer.

The embezzlement started in March 2014 and ended in late 2019.
