Officials worry about falling vaccination rates for whooping cough, measles

Health officials are warning that outbreaks of preventable diseases are possible if vaccinations rates in children don't increase.

Health officials from around the state gathered virtually on Monday morning for the 'I Vaccinate' campaign.

In 42 of 83 Michigan counties, vaccination rates for children ages 19 months to 36 months have fallen below 70 percent.

Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Immunization Division Director Bob Swanson says to achieve her immunity for measles, vaccination rates need to be at least at 90 percent, if not above 95 percent.
