In Some Counties, a Continued Wait for Coronavirus Vaccines

GRAND RAPIDS (WOOD-AM) - Coronavirus vaccination eligibility opens to every Michigander 16 and older today.

However, some local health departments say it still might be a while before some people get confirmed appointments.

Some counties, like Ottawa County, are still trying to get as many people 50 and older with underlying conditions vaccinated.

"It is a fine balance that we need to (gauge) here because while we have groups who are at higher risk for severe complications. We also have groups who may be spreading the infection more," said Kristina Wieghmink from the Ottawa County Department of Public Health told WOOD-TV.

Ottawa County's health department is getting around 5,000 doses a week.
