Overdose leads to child care license suspension

The state is suspending the license of a child care facility in Kalamazoo after the owner reportedly overdosed on cocaine.

The Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs issued the suspension this week.

Owner Ashlee Terry of Terry's Playhouse overdosed just minutes before children arrived on March 23.

A Department of Health and Human Services worker says she told them she used the drug to stay awake after not sleeping the night before.

A hearing is scheduled for a decision on the future of the daycare.
