GR starting second summer of youth employment program

Grand Rapids is partnering with local businesses and organizations to help young people get jobs this summer.

GRow1000 is a youth employment program that works to get GR residents age 15-24 summer jobs.

The program began last year and city manager Mark Washington says its important that youth stay productive over the summer and build useful skills.

Last summer, over 350 teens worked at 60 job sites.

This year the city is hoping to help 650 youth.
