Marlena’s Bistro Restaurant Owner Arrested

A restaurant owner in Holland who was bracing for arrest after staying open through the pandemic, was arrested Friday morning on her way to work.

Marlena Pavlos-Hackney of Marlena’s Bistro and Pizzeria was instructed to turn herself in by the end of day Thursday but refused to comply. 

An Ingham County judge issued a bench warrantfor Pavlos-Hackey during a virtual hearing March 4, saying she should be jailed until she shuts down her restaurant after flouting the most recent state dine-in ban and then ignoring a suspension of her license.

2 Amway laying off 900 employees. The West Michigan based company announced 6% of its total workforce will be cut, mostly from the company's headquarters in Ada. Amway said 15,000 people globally and 900 within the U.S. will be out of a job following this announcement.

3 United Auto Workers union report that the company will send new work to Mexico instead of Ohio after the company promised in 2019 to invest $900 million in its Avon Lake plant, create 1,500 jobs and build a next-generation product there in 2023.
