The Big Three 3-18-21

1 Michigan is reporting a spike of new COVID cases and hospitalizations. The state has the 5th highest rate of new cases in the country over the last week.

The Ford Airport is rolling out a new rapid test that it says will provide an accurate COVID-19 result in less than 30 minutes.

It’s one of the first in the country to offer a rapid PCR test, which is more accurate than rapid antigen tests. However, the tests aren’t cheap – costing $275 apiece.

2 We now know the names of four victims in the metro Atlanta spa shootings. Six of the eight who were killed were Asian women.

Investigators said it was too early to say whether the crime was racially motivated and instead pointed to the suspect's claim of a potential sex addiction.

The suspect faces charges of murder and aggravated assault.

3 Tornadoes have hit at least five states in the Deep South as a line of storms moves through the region. The greatest damage so far appears to be in Alabama and Mississippi, where homes were damaged and roads blocked. The biggest storm threat now shifts east to Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina. About 45 million are under threat for severe storms today and could see tornadoes, large hail and damaging winds.
