Reduced Distancing Being Studied in Kent County Schools

GRAND RAPIDS (WOOD-AM) - A pilot study on social distancing is being conducted in Kent County schools.

"We realized that it may be possible to only quarantine children that come into contact with someone that’s positive if they’re within 3 feet rather than within 6 feet," Kent County Health Department Community Wellness Division Director Joann Hoganson told WOOD-TV.

The CDC recommendation is six feet.

Three weeks into the six-week study, Hoganson said they haven't seen any significant case increase.
