$10M in recreational pot sales being split among local governments

The state is starting to split up almost $10 million in tax revenue from the sale of recreational marijuana and is sending it to local governments.

According to the Michigan Department of Treasury, 38 cities, 21 townships, 38 counties and seven villages will receive around $28,000 for each shop in their area.

During the 2020 fiscal year, over $341 million in recreational marijuana sales was reported and the state collected over $31 million in tax revenues.
