Restaurant workers uncertain of when they qualify for vaccine

After Governor Whitmer expanded vaccine eligibility unexpectedly on Wednesday, restaurant workers say they are still not sure what phase of the rollout they fall under.

As restaurants prepare to up their capacity limits to 50 percent on Friday, restaurant owners and workers say the vaccine could give them added protection.

Chef Oscar Moreno works at MeXo in downtown Grand Rapids and says social distancing can be hard serving tables but they have added sanitation and other safety measures into their routines.

The state is currently in Phase 1B of the vaccine rollout which includes agriculture, food processing workers and other essential front-line workers.
