After a sharp increase in COVID-19 cases this fall, area hospitals are reported a significant drop in hospitalizations due to COVID-19.
Spectrum Health chief medical officer Dr. Joshua Kooistra says cases slowed into the summer but then the surge in the fall put them in crisis mode.
They saw triple the patients in November and December compared to April and May.
Spectrum Health says they currently have 66 COVID-19 patients at their facilities.
