Legislation to exclude menstrual hygiene products from sales tax in Michigan has been reintroduced in Lansing.
Tampons, sanitary napkins and other similar products are currently taxed at 6 percent.
According to a study in 2019, Michigan brings in around $6.5 million dollars annually by taxing the products.
State Senator Winnie Brinks of Grand Rapids says this legislation would create fundamental justice and create tax fairness.
