COMSTOCK PARK (WOOD-AM) - Jim Olson taught health and science at Comstock Park High School for about 40 years. He also coached wrestling from 1979 until 2015.
His family says Olson died last week at the age of 69. Many, including rival coaches, attended a service over the weekend.
His daughters are starting a scholarship for students in his memory. It will be awarded to those who exemplify Olson's values and beliefs.
"He was that teacher that gravitated to the students that were tough, that maybe other teachers gave up on," daughter LeAnn Olson told WOOD-TV.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to the memorial scholarship fund.
