MI legislators calling for property tax relief due to COVID-19

Some Michigan legislators are calling for property tax relief.

Senator Winnie Brinks and Representative Rachel Hood, both of Grand Rapids, introduced legislation that would create a reimbursement plan through local governments for business and property owners that couldn't pay their property taxes in summer 2020 due to COVID-19.

The plan would waive late penalties and interest fees.

Eligible businesses would include bars, theaters, restaurants, recreation facilities, sports stadiums and exercise facilities.
