KALAMAZOO (WOOD-AM) - The director of infection prevention and epidemiology at Bronson Healthcare says it's only a matter of time before the more-infectious coronavirus mutation from Britain becomes the dominant strain in West Michigan.
"Over time, it will take over," Dr. Richard Van Enk tells WOOD-TV. "It will out-compete the other strains and become the dominant strain. The fact that we've seen this strain across several counties now in West Michigan means it’s been here for a while."
Cases of the variant have now been reported in Kent, Eaton, Calhoun, Kalamazoo and Van Buren counties.
