The Muskegon Heights Police Department is getting ready to swear in the next chief.
Chief Joseph Thomas left the department in October to move to a new department.
Maurice Sain has filled in an interim chief since.
Sain has served at MHPD for 22 years starting in 1999.
He says becoming police chief has always been on his list of career goals.
