GR looking for organization to work with community to stop violence

City leaders in Grand Rapids are searching for solutions after a record number of homicides this year.

The city will spend 225-thousand-dollars over the next three years looking for a community-based organization that can connect with community members.

The organizations will have to show that they have had success curbing violence and will work along side police officers.

Proposals for the program are due on January 15.
