Homeless tent city growing in Grand Rapids

Heartside Park is home to a growing number of homeless people who have pitched tents together.

The camp has a little Christmas tree decorated right in front of the temporary homes.

Exodus Place President Robb Munger says he has never seen camping at the park before and blames it on the COVID-19 pandemic overwhelming the services for the community.

Grand Rapids Police say the camp started about a month and a half ago.

On Friday, there were over 42 tents.
