Salvation Army says West Michiganders have been generous all year but the need is greater than ever.
Major Glen Caddy says the are expecting a 55 percent increase over this time last year.
The organization says 30 percent of people requesting help have never applied before.
Red Kettles are out and the Angel Tree is up as forms of donations.
