PETA Pushing For Federal Charges Against Now-Closed Holland Slaughterhouse

HOLLAND (WOOD-AM) - People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals is pushing for federal charges after the U.S. Department of Agriculture shut down the Fillmore Beef Company slaughterhouse in Holland.

PETA's Colin Henstock says it follows two reports in three months of a cow needing to be stunned multiple times before being killed.

"These animals feel the same terror and pain that you or I would," Henstock said.

The U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Michigan is deciding on whether charges need to be filed.
