Great Lakes Oil Pipeline Shutdown Sought by Whitmer

TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. - On Friday, legal action was taken by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer to shut down a pipeline that carries oil beneath a channel that links two of the Great Lakes.

Whitmer's office told Enridge, the Canadian company involved with pipeline, that it was taking back an easement granted in 1953 to extend a roughly four mile section of the pipeline through the Straits of Mackinac.
