New COVID Testing Site Opens in GR

LANSING, Mich. - According to a news release from the Michigan State Police, a new COVID-19 testing site opens today.

The site is at the Garfield Park Gym at 2111 Madison Avenue SE. It becomes the 21st testing site in Grand Rapids. It will offer testing from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursdays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Fridays, and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays.

“Neighborhood testing sites have proven to be a valuable resource for communities across the state to ensure free testing is available to all Michiganders,” said Dr. Joneigh Khaldun, chief medical executive and chief deputy of health at MDHHS.

Khaldun also stated that more the 16,000 Michiganders have been tested at on of the Neighborhood Testing Sites.

The site opens just one day after Michigan set a new record for new positive cases of COVID-19, with 4,101 testing positive for the virus.
