Montcalm Township voters reelect treasurer who’s been living in Alaska

PINE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD TV STAFF) — Township officials say their township treasurer running unopposed in western Michigan was reelected, weeks after she suddenly departed for Alaska.

Republican Rachel Pitcher, received more than 600 votes Tuesday in Montcalm County’s Pine Township, easily defeating a write-in candidate. As treasurer, she is paid $11,500 per year.

The local newspaper, The Daily News in Greenville reported on Sept. 26, Pitcher said on Facebook that she had moved to Alaska, She later told the newspaper that she would return in a few weeks. She apparently hasn’t.

So far, the MIA treasurer Pitcher has not publicly commented.
