Lawsuit filed by Trump campaign seeks to stop vote counting in Michigan

Michigan Election Officials Count Ballots In Lansing

BYBRETT SAMUELS-1

President Trump's reelection campaign on Wednesday said it was filing a lawsuit to halt the counting of votes in Michigan until it is given access to observe the tabulation process.

Bill Stepien, Trump Campaign manager, alleged that it had not been given "meaningful access" to observe the opening of ballots at multiple locations.

In statement issued Wednesday, Stepien said, "We have filed suit today in the Michigan Court of Claims to halt counting until meaningful access has been granted. We also demand to review those ballots which were opened and counted while we did not have meaningful access.

The President's campaign filed the lawsuit shortly after Democratic candidate Joe Biden took a narrow lead over Trump in the state on Wednesday.
