Gunfire Detection Program Considered by GRPD Again

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Grand Rapids Police Department is looking to buy a system that had been rejected in the past.

GRPD Chief Eric Payne presented information to the city's public safety committee on ShotSpotter on Tuesday. It is a network of sensors and artificial intelligence that is supposed to accurately detect, locate and alert authorities to the sound of gunfire.
