GRAND RAPIDS TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — As his children's watched the proceedings, Mike Pagel was sentenced Monday for the murder of their mother more than 14 years ago.
A judge sentenced Mike Pagel, 55, to 25 to 50 years in prison.
Speaking during the proceedings in a Kent County courtroom, Pagel asked his children for forgiveness and said he regretted murdering their mother Renee Pagel.
Pagel quoted the Gospel of Matthew, saying, “Before you ask God for forgiveness, ask for forgiveness from those you’ve offended.”
Authorities say Renee Pagel, a 41-year-old mother of three, was stabbed to death in her bed at her Rockford-area home on Aug. 5, 2006.
