GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Meteorologist Emily Schuitema with Storm Team 8 says the first of two full moons in October will happen Thursday this week.
She reminds that the full Harvest Moon will happen Thursday Oct. 1 at 5:05 p.m. and the 'Harvest Moon' is the name given to the full moon that happens closest to the autumnal equinox.
This will be the first full moon of fall and the first of two full moons in October. The second will take place on Oct. 31.
Schuitema also advises that Mars will be impressive to view through the entire month of October. In fact, she says it won’t be as bright as this month again until September 2035.
