State suits farm for animal waste polluting White River

The state is suing Holton Township based Slater Farms for allegedly not properly taking care of animal waste.

The state says the farm is not properly disposing of over 1,500 tons of solid waste and 8.9 million gallons of liquid waster that are sending nitrogen, phosphorus and E. coli into the White River watershed.

The farm also handles 10.7 million gallons of liquid waste from another farm.
