ZEELAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — The Ottawa county sheriff's department has released the names of the people killed in a plane crash early Saturday morning.
News 8 learned from the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office that Dale Deweese, 61, and Joyce Deweese, 59, both from Zeeland, were killed when a small, two-seat aircraft crashed near Zeeland Saturday morning..
Officers investigating the crash said it happened shortly after 6:30 a.m. at Ottawa Executive Airport, which is south of I-196 near 64th Avenue, east of Zeeland.
They said the plane crashed northeast of the runway just after taking off. The cause of the crash is not yet clear; the sheriff’s office and the Federal Aviation Administration are investigating.
