SE Side Residents: Areas of Grand Rapids "Like a War Zone"

GRAND RAPIDS (WOOD-AM) - Residents on the southeast side of Grand Rapids say they're getting fed up with seemingly-nightly gunfire.

Ted Brown owns a home on Bates Street.

"It’s alarming when you hear more than five, six, seven in a row," Brown told WOOD-TV. "Kind of reminds you of maybe like a war going on or something."

It has been a violent year in the city. 22 homicides have been reported. The Grand Rapids Police Department says 17 have been solved.
