Police: Homicide suspect fired shots at deputies before Monday night chase

WALKER, Mich. (WOOD) — Walker PD says a homicide suspect is in custody after shooting at deputies then leading them on a chase in Kent County Monday night.

Police said around 6 p.m., authorities say a man shot another man and a woman near the 2100 block of Mcilwarth Street in Muskegon Heights.

Officers said the woman who was shot died and the man who was shot was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

As sheriff deputies attempted to pull over the same suspect in northern Kent County, he pointed a gun over his shoulder and fired shots at an approaching deputy, authorities say.

Officers from both the Walker Police Department at the Michigan State Police then became involved in pursuit

A police report indicated the suspect was then taken into custody without incident. He was not hurt and was transported back to Muskegon County.
