More time to process absentee ballots approved by Michigan senate

LANSING, Mich. (WOOD-TV) — Under a new bill approved Tuesday by the Michigan Senate, larger Michigan city governments could begin processing an expected surge of absentee ballots sooner in the November presidential election

Capitol observers noted that the 34-2 vote followed a months-long delay in the Republican-led chamber amid lobbying from clerks in both parties who warned of significant delays in counting the votes.

The bill goes to the GOP-controlled House next.
